HDMI Setup to Send Many Devices to Many Screens and Central control

A corporate client in Malaysia requires a centralized multimedia distribution system for their customer’s conference room (Jabatan), capable of managing multiple HDMI sources and transmitting them to multiple displays in different areas. The system needs to support long-distance transmission, flexible source switching, stable high-definition output, and centralized control via touchscreen or mobile devices.

Customer Requirements

  • Up to 5 HDMI input sources
  • Output to 10 TV/monitor displays across the facility
  • Long-distance transmission without signal loss
  • Centralized & remote control via wall panel / iPad
  • Flexible switching between any input and any display
  • Seamless video switching for a smooth viewing experience

Challenges

The client needed a system that could:

  • Distribute HDMI signals to multiple TVs at different locations
  • Allow each TV to independently select any input source
  • Support both HDMI and HDMI-over-IP distribution methods
  • Maintain high-quality 1080p/4K signal at the same time over long distances (up to 100m)
  • Provide easy control through RS-232, touch panels, and wireless devices
  • Scale for future expansion (additional TVs / receivers)

Traditional HDMI splitters could not meet the requirements for long-distance transmission and flexible routing. A more advanced matrix and extender solution was required.

Solution Overview

  1. Input Sources & Extenders

All 5 HDMI sources are connected through:
KA128 HDMI/VGA Wall Plate HDBaseT Extender (70m)
Each KA128TX sends the signal to a KA128RX, then to the HDMI Matrix.

  1. Core System – Matrix Switcher

KA185 – HDMI Seamless Matrix 8×8

  • Acts as the main switching hub
  • Routes any input to any output
  • Provides seamless switching without black screens
  1. Output Distribution
  • TV1 – TV7 connected directly from matrix outputs
  • TV8 – TV10 distributed using:
  1. Additional Signal Distribution
  1. Control System Integration
  • KA218 Integrated Control Wall Plate provides local RS-232 control
  • Wireless control is available via iPad, connected through a router
  • Supports matrix switching, source selection, and display control
